About WebXash

WebXash is a browser launcher built around Xash3D, an engine that runs Half-Life style games. From its control panel you can pick Half-Life or Counter-Strike, start one of the listed Half-Life demos (HLDM, Uplink or Day One), or load your own game files from a folder or ZIP. Everything runs in the browser with no download of a separate program.

The panels give you options you would normally find in a desktop launcher. You can tick Fullscreen, Console or sv_cheats 1 before starting, type a multiplayer IP address to connect to a server, and manage your progress with Add, Remove and Download buttons in the Saves List. It is a handy way to revisit classic first-person shooter levels.

How to play WebXash

  1. Choose Half-Life or Counter-Strike in the Games panel.
  2. Pick a demo from the Half-Life Demos list and press Start Demo, or use Open game Folder or Open ZIP to load your own game files.
  3. Set any launch options you want, such as Fullscreen, Console or sv_cheats 1, before the game starts.
  4. For multiplayer, enter a server address in the Multiplayer IP box.
  5. Use the Saves List to add, remove or download save files so you can pick up where you left off.

Tips for WebXash

  • Each demo shows its size next to the name, so start with Uplink (45M) if your connection is slow, since HLDM is 85M and Day One is 78M.
  • Keep Console ticked so you can type engine commands while playing.
  • Use the Download button in the Saves List to keep a copy of your progress outside the browser.
  • Open the Instructions link at the bottom of the launcher if you are unsure how to load your own game files.
