About Durak Play

Durak Play is an online version of Durak, the classic card game where the goal is to empty your hand before everyone else. The last player still holding cards is the durak, the fool. You can sit at a table with other people, invite friends to a private room, or practice against bots, all in the browser with no download.

There are three ways to play. In Classic, the defender covers each attack or picks up the table. Transfer lets you pass the opening attack on with a card of matching rank, and Team seats two pairs opposite each other. You join as a guest with no email needed, and tables use virtual coins that are not sold for real money.

How to play Durak Play

  1. Open the lobby and pick Quick Play, join an open table, or create a room with your own mode, player count, deck size and bet.
  2. When another player or bot takes the seat, press Ready and wait for the deal.
  3. On defense, cover each attacking card with a higher card of the same suit or a trump, or pick up the table if you cannot.
  4. When attacking, play cards that match the ranks already on the table to put pressure on the defender.
  5. Get rid of all your cards before the others so you are not the last one left holding a hand.

Tips for Durak Play

  • Start with a two-player Classic table, a 36-card deck and no stake, which the site suggests as the easiest way to learn.
  • Hold on to your trumps when you can, since they can beat any card of another suit when you need to defend.
  • In Transfer mode, watch for a card that matches the opening attack's rank so you can pass the attack to the next player instead of defending.
  • In Team mode, think about your partner across the table and avoid loading them up with cards they cannot beat.
